Kamala Harris Endorses Sri Preston Kulkarni for Congress

Sugar Land—Today, Senator Kamala Harris endorsed Sri Preston Kulkarni for Congress in Texas’s 22nd Congressional District. The announcement is just the latest boost for a Kulkarni campaign that has firmly positioned itself as the frontrunner in one of the top congressional campaigns in the country

Senator Harris issued the following statement:

“Sri Preston Kulkarni represents what Washington D.C. needs more of. He’s proudly served this country and he’s ready to serve his community. Sri is someone who will heal political divisions, listen to experts, and answer his constituents. He’s mobilizing the South Asian community—my own community—in groundbreaking ways. I look forward to working with Sri in Congress next year—I can’t wait to see the change he makes.”

Sri Kulkarni issued the following statement:

“It’s an honor to have Senator Harris’ support in this fight. Kamala has spent her career breaking barriers and fighting for working families. As someone working to become the first Asian-American congressman elected in Texas, support from a trailblazer like her means a lot and I look forward to working with Senator Harris to build a democracy that works for the people, not the special interests.”

Sri Preston Kulkarni is the son of an Indian immigrant father and a mother whose family descends from Sam Houston. Kulkarni is a former Foreign Service Officer who served fourteen years overseas in places like Iraq, Russia, and Jerusalem, and as a former Defense, Foreign Policy and Veteran Affairs Advisor to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) before deciding to leave the foreign service and return home to run for Congress in 2018.
