Sierra Club Endorses Sri Kulkarni for Congress

Sugar Land, TX — Sri Preston Kulkarni has been endorsed by the Sierra Club to be the next congressman for Texas’s 22nd congressional district. The Sierra Club is the nation’s leading environmental justice organization and has been advocating for environmentalist policies for over a century.

In response to Sierra Club’s endorsement, Sri Preston Kulkarni issued the following statement:

“I am honored to have the Sierra Club’s endorsement. Unfortunately, our current administration has dismissed climate change and environmental devastation as an inconsequential ‘hoax.’ Here in the Houston area, climate change isn’t some hypothetical problem. We were ravaged by Harvey, and we are hammered by flooding every year. If we remain in denial on climate change, these disasters will become our norm. I’m ready to work with anyone to put in place common sense policies to protect our planet and invest in clean energy solutions that will bring new jobs to our district.”

Sri Preston Kulkarni is the son of an Indian immigrant father and a mother whose family descends from Sam Houston. Kulkarni is a former Foreign Service Officer who served fourteen years overseas in places like Iraq, Russia, and Jerusalem, and as a former Defense, Foreign Policy and Veteran Affairs Advisor to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) before deciding to leave the foreign service and return home to run for Congress in 2018.
